“Robots Will Be the CEO’s of Top Companies in 30 Years” – Jack Ma

artificial intelligence future

The Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) boss and billionaire, Jack Ma, says you may soon have a robot working alongside you in the corporate space. He adds, in 30 years, many top companies will also appoint robots as their Chief Executives. In fact, it is likely that one of these robots may even make it to the cover of the Time Magazine.

Jack Ma Issues a Warning

Ma was speaking at a China Entrepreneur Club event where he said this. He also issued a warning that technology, artificial intelligence, and robotics will create a lot of pain for humanity in the coming decades, and went on to add that much of this is inevitable. Social conflicts will be larger, and they are likely to have a “huge impact” on all walks of life and industry. However, Ma says, we can still minimize the effect if governments across the world bring in education reform and teach humans how best we can work with machines. This will soften the blow.

Speaking in Chinese at Zhengzhou, Ma said, “In the coming 30 years, the world’s pain will be much more than happiness, because there are many more problems that we have come across”.

Ma said around 15 years ago he gave two or three hundred speeches warning about the impact of e-commerce and the internet on traditional businesses, but not many people listened as he wasn’t well-known.

Business Needs New Technology

Ironically, Ma’s own company has invested a lot of money in areas like artificial intelligence and cloud computing, in an effort to expand into new sectors beyond just e-commerce business. But, Ma says there is no option. Businesses will have to bring in new technology because otherwise, they won’t survive.

We need technology to process the huge amount of data that is generated today because the human brain cannot do this. But machines shouldn’t replace what humans can do. Ma advices that the tech community should focus on making the machines do what humans cannot. In this way, machines won’t replace humans entirely, but will work as a “human partner”. But the Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) boss conceded that there are likely to be fewer jobs around in the next few decades at least.

Elon Musk is also trying to prevent this in his own way by merging the human brain with computers through his new company Neuralink. Musk says we have to merge our brains with machines as this is the only way we can be efficient enough to deal with the ever-improving artificial intelligence.
